I am always looking for people to share these events with. I am not super fit, but as a guide you will need to be able off road for about 4hrs through hilly terrain (such as the Peak District) as a minimum. Contact me if you are interested.

I live in Cambridge but travel to both the Peaks and Wales for events. For most orienteering events you will need a SPORTident dibber, also known as an SI-Card. I use the SI-Card 6. You can hire these at the events too, but sometimes there is a bit of waiting involved. I recommend some form of insurance that covers this kind of sport. Contact either the CTC or the TCA.

For Trailquests you don’t need to be very fit - you can set your own pace. To gain high points though you will need to be fit, and read a map very well. The Kona 100 and other Enduros you will need to be fit. 100Km off road in Wales is about as tough as it gets. Polaris is probably the hardest event, though I have yet to get to one, so I can’t give you a first hand experience!
