New cycling shoes (now have)
Published by Matt Polaine | Filed under Cycling, Matthew's wishlist
MTB cycling shoes get a real beating, and my Specialized have lasted better than the others I have had, but they are starting to suffer a bit. The lace bindings are fraying and the underside grip has lost bits. I think Specialized are spot on to focus on the contact points on the bike, the saddle, mitts and shoes. Shoes need to be really well designed as so much energy is passed through them into the bike. After lots of looking around, for me there is only one choice, the Specialized Pro MTB shoe. I am no Pro, but that is mis-leading. All it means is the shoe has been designed for those who really hammer their shoes, like 100Km MTB events! About £140, but last (I hope) about five years of intense abuse. My size is Euro 43.
